Fire Emblem Fates: Birthright or Conquest?

I recently played through Conquest.

This was the first Fire Emblem game I played, and I truly loved it. I went to the store to get Awakening, but when they didn't have a copy, I looked at Fates and went back and forth for a long time over which one to get. I didn't know much about it-I went for the other game, after all-besides the general premise. But in the end I grabbed Conquest, purely because I thought the art on the cover was nicer. I know, I'm awful.

So, I went home and started playing. For the first bit I found myself very unsure of what I chose, but when it came to making the decision in game...I was already positive that I made the right decision. As beautiful as Hoshido is, and as wonderful as the character's are, I know that I would have chosen the path of Conquest myself. I would choose the family that raised me and I loved over the family I had met only recently(childhood not counting).

I'm very satisfied with how everything happened, and despite that there were some character deaths...they didn't truly affect me. I wasn't close to those character's. But now that I've played this side, I honestly don't think my heart could take the other one. I know that the other side would lead to the death of a character I particularly love, and that just can't happen (I spoiled it accidentally, after playing mine). I might play the third branch, however.
