Part 4: A Curious Bug

This update was really getting out of hand. You ran around the castle once more, speaking with who you could, and even bonding with your spouse. They all had strange dialogue similar to Azura's, and even the most cheerful of character's seemed a little wary. Your spouse was even worse. Your character's other half told you how much they loved you, in a way that very much sounded like a goodbye.

Feeling weirder by the minute, you at last left the castle and looked at the last chapter of the play-through. You wondered if this update messed up the story itself, and it occurred to you that maybe this was a surprise event or something. You couldn't think of why there would be an event, but you figured you must have overlooked an anniversary or something.

You clicked on the final chapter and immediately noticed the music was different. It sounded like Azura's song, but it was being performed by at least a dozen people. It didn't sound creepy at all. At first was strong and uplifting, but the first verse passed without the scene fading in, and it began to get a little quieter.

It took you a moment to realize that they weren't singing softer, but that voices were dropping out as each line made its way through the speakers. Closing your eyes to listen in, as the screen clearly wasn't going to show anything, you decided it definitely must be an event of some sort. Maybe a way to promote the new version of Azura's song.

You couldn't tell at first, but as the voices thinned and became more distinct, you realized that they were the voices of the character's themselves. A part of you wondered how they got them all to agree to singing, but mostly you found yourself entranced by the music, and slowly but surely, you drifted off.

..................

.............

.........

....

You knew you had fallen asleep as you came back to consciousness, but the clear, beautiful sound of Azura's voice assured that you couldn't have been asleep long. Unwilling to open your eyes, you listened to the song and noted that it sounded nicer than you remembered, and that it was the first verse being performed. You wondered if this version of the song repeated itself, or if the event contained a fine-tuned version of the original.

You had heard the song many times, and you knew it by heart. You didn't often sing in front of people, but in the comfort of your own home you often found yourself humming or singing along. So long as no one else was there. So it didn't really surprise you when you found yourself continuing the song with the DS, loud and clear to match the sound coming from it.

However, it did surprise you when the voice you were singing along to cut off with a very feminine gasp.

Successfully distracted, your own voice cut off as your eyes snapped open.

It was only now that you took note of things that you were too entranced to notice before.

Like the soft grass underneath you.

Like the lack of rain and thunder.

Like the soft sounds of water rippling.

Like the beautiful Blue haired maiden standing a few feet away from you.

...A blue haired girl that was staring at you in as much shock as you were at her.

She found her voice before you found yours. "You...that song..." She quieted, and you caught several thoughts as they flickered across her face, too fast for you to actually distinguish. "How do you know that song?"

You couldn't help but stare a moment. This girl, Azura, alive and in the flesh before you. Azura. The video game character.

You knew you had to answer sooner or later, and though you were very confused, you dismissed the thought of this being a dream. Everything had too much clarity. No, this was real. Somehow you were inside Fire Emblem Fates.

There were many things you could answer with.

Maybe if you told her you were from Valla, she wouldn't question how you knew the song. That might lead to some other questions, but you were confident you could come up with something.

You could tell her the truth and tell her you're from another world. She might not believe you, but Azura always seemed to be one of the more understanding characters.

Or you could tell her you don't know. It might be the easiest path to take, and it would avoid having to come up with a backstory that might ring false.

If you choose to claim you're from Valla, go to part 8.

If you choose to claim you're from another world entirely, go to part 9.

If you choose to claim you have amnesia, go to part 10.

I know some of these are extremely short, but I promise it's for the best. If you want a thread prioritized, please comment which one. Thank you.
